Supporting Our Engineering Leaders of Tomorrow

Design Systems, Inc. was so pleased to provide support and encouragement for a very talented and energetic group of young students. Team 123, Hamtramck High School’s FIRST Robotics team proved hard work and fun can go hand-in-hand. Team 123 competed at two district competitions in which they ranked among the top ten teams with the highest qualifying points. Team 123 was rewarded for their hard work with three awards: The Entrepreneurship Award; Innovation in Control Award; and lastly The District Engineering Inspiration Award which is the second-most prestigious award a FIRST team can achieve which seeks to distinguish teams who have shown tremendous commitment to spreading science and technology throughout their school and community. To cap it off, Team 123 from Hamtramck High School qualified to compete at the FIRST World Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. Team 123, Hamtramck High School’s FIRST Robotics team, began the 2015 season with a bang and ended even stronger. They competed at two district competitions, Woodhaven and Center Line, in which they ranked among the top ten teams with the highest qualifying points. At both locations, Team 123 advanced to the playoffs and won an award. The Entrepreneurship Award recognizes teams who demonstrate excellent execution of a comprehensive business plan. The District Engineering Inspiration Award, the second-most prestigious award a FIRST team can receive, seeks to distinguish teams who have shown tremendous commitment to spreading science and technology throughout their school and community. At the FIRST in Michigan District Championship, Team 123 also won the Innovation in Control Award, which recognizes a robot with an impressive control system. However, the team’s journey did not end in Michigan. For the first time since 2007, the Cosmos qualified to compete at the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Cosmos owe much of our continued success to the support we receive from our sponsors; from those who have been with us since the year we first began, to those who have recently joined the Cosmos galaxy. Without our sponsors, we would not have been able to compete at either of our district competitions, never mind reach the World Championship. 2016 will mark the 20th anniversary of Team 123’s formation, and with this in mind, we thank you for the relentless support you have shown our team and FIRST. Each of our sponsors will always have a place within the Cosmos galaxy, and we can only hope that you will join us for another incredible 20 years.
